Vietnam likely to pass yearly target for international tourists

In August, Vietnam welcomed more than 427,900 international tourists, a year-on-year increase of 38 percent, and is expected to receive over 4 million visitors during the whole year, announced the General Statistics Office.
In the past years, tourism cooperation between Vietnam and Malaysia brought in satisfactory results. There are many opportunities for the two countries to expand cooperation in this field.

The annual International Travel Expo scheduled for September 30 to October 2 in HCMC’s District 7 will highlight river tourism and health tourism in the city as well as the world heritage sites in the country, the organizer said.

One hundred outstanding Vietnamese and German students visited the Bai Dinh pagoda, which is considered the biggest one in Southeast Asia, in the northern province of Ninh Binh on August 14.

Mẫu Sơn Mountain is located in Lộc Bình District, about 30km from Lạng Sơn City to Mẫu Sơn Rerort. Mẫu Sơn is surrounded by hundreds of big and small mountains. Summer is cool; the peak is always covered with fog in winter. Tourists can visit China over border gate Chi Ma. CNN will broadcast a video clip advertising Vietnamese tourism later this year.
The clip, which cost 5.3 billion dong or $277,000 to broadcast on CNN, will air in the third or fourth quarter as part of a $2.1 million tourism promotion program for 2010, but details about the frequency of the broadcast have not been revealed.

HCM CITY — Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh has approved a national tourism promotion programme for 2010 under which Vietnamese destinations and products will be promoted on the domestic and international media.

The War Remnants Museum was voted as one of 10 Most Popular Ho Chi Minh City tourist attractions by local and foreign visitors in the “Ho Chi Minh City-100 Excitements” program, launched last year by the HCMC Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism.
